Two days deep in the most untamed corner of southern Patagonia. The Balmaceda Lodge experience takes you by catamaran through the dramatic Última Esperanza Fjord — past calving glaciers, sheer granite walls, and waters carved by centuries of ice — to a remote lodge where the only sounds are wind, water, and your own footsteps. No road, no crowds, no signal.

At the lodge, you choose your own kind of adventure: kayak through icy channels, cast a line for trout where few have ever fished, or trek into the surrounding wilderness with a certified guide. Meals are served at the lodge with the fjord as your window. The next morning, the catamaran picks you up for the return navigation through Parque Nacional Bernardo O'Higgins — Chile's largest national park — with a toast of whisky chilled by millennial glacial ice along the way.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Hotel pickup, fjord navigation, lodge check-in

07:00 Hotel pickup in Puerto Natales. 08:00 Catamaran navigation through the Última Esperanza Fjord toward Hostería Monte Balmaceda. 11:00 Arrival and check-in at the lodge. 13:00 Lunch. 15:00 Choose your afternoon adventure — kayaking, fishing, or trekking. 19:00 Dinner at the lodge.

Day 2 — Morning activity, national park, return navigation

08:00 Breakfast. 09:00 Morning activity. 11:00 Catamaran pickup and navigation through Parque Nacional Bernardo O'Higgins, with the iconic whisky toast over millennial glacial ice. 14:00 Lunch at Estancia Perales. 17:00 Arrival back in Puerto Natales.

Accommodation

Hostería Monte Balmaceda — a remote lodge at the edge of the fjord, accessible only by boat. Comfortable rooms with views over the water, full restaurant service, and direct access to the surrounding wilderness.
